Mishka x Truth Of A Liar x BANDIT-1$M

  • Around 4 years ago now I was in a mall in Virginia Beach doing some shopping while on vacation. At the time I was big into streetwear, and even bigger into bright colour shirts. I picked up this purple beast and had to have it. The graphic was unbelievable. The shirt was called “The Gut Buster” and it was from a company unknown to me at the time called Mishka. Over the years I had a few opportunities to include Mishka in projects I was working on with various media outlets, everything from ads in magazines to styling shoots with their product. But it wasn’t until I became a member of the Keep Watch club in 2009 that I actually started talking to the head guys and became friends. Now on the other side of things. Attending a lot of events here in the city I always get a chance too meet new people. At one event in particular I met a parisian couple living and working in Montreal. I had heard of the 123Klan but didn’t have any real grasp at what legends in the graffiti game they really were. Working with huge names in streetwear and designing some absolutely amazing works of art I was in a way almost star struck to be in their presence. We exchanged info and met up the next week to talk and a friendship grew from there.

When TOAL really started to grow last year and the limited shirts were being released, and selling out in days naturally I thought about possibly collabing with people I knew. But thinking about a collab and actually making it happen are 2 very different things, and even more so very hard to make happen. I had brought up the idea of making something with Mishka in a quick conversation with Greg and implanted the idea for a future date. With the 123Klan, Scien, Klor and I were actually working on doing a tee together which was in the beginning stages. Its from there that this collab grew. We all talked (Greg, Mike, Scien, Klor) through a mix of emails and decided we would come up with an idea and present it for a possible collab. Sitting down and working with the 123Klan was an awesome experience, watching how they work, how they design, how their minds are constantly working on a creative level of genius was a privilege. I was happy to be included in the design process, with my suggestions being taken into consideration. Through this a shirt and hat were born. A beautiful designed graphic featuring one of the 123Klan’ iconic BANDIT-1$M‘ characters and a fitting Keep Watch eyeball. And to match, a sick snapback with what else, but a huge LIAR right across the front.

I dont want to ramble on but I do want to just say this. When I picked up my first shirt 4 years ago there wasn’t even an idea of Truth Of A Liar. So to come this far, and have my own collab with 2 companies I respect so much is just mind blowing to me. I just want to take a minute and thank 4 people. Greg, You are the man and I am so thankful that you would even consider me to be a part of your brand on any level. Mike, without you lets be honest this would never have been taken off the ground, thank you man! Scien, I am proud to call you my friend and this experience with you has been eye opening and amazing. Last but not least Klor, your no bullshit attitude is scary as hell but you are the smartest business woman I know, and I am pleased to have worked with you on this project.

Ok so, after months and months of work it has finally payed off and I am happy to say we are going to have an official launch here in Montreal on April 15th. The photo below taken by JF Mailhot is the official collab picture. We invite you to join us at the 123Klan creative studios for a drink, meet Greg and Mike of MIshka, and get first dibs on the hat and shirt. if your not in Montreal, dont stress we will have a few for sale online.
