Last night, the Yves Laroche Gallery had it’s officially opening of the doors at its new location on 6355 St-Laurent blvd, Montreal. To celebrate the new space, YL gallery was presenting Daniel Martin Diaz’s first solo exhibition in Canada titled “Sacred Machine” as well as “Looking East” a multi disciplinary group exhibition by guest curator Justin Giarla (White Walls/Shooting Gallery, SF). YL’s new address is a destination for Montreal’s art, fashion and media communities. Located in the heart of the Mile End, this newly renovated 9,000 square foot space of awesome will be home to a permanent collection and a boutique. In addition, the new headquarters introduces 2 large exhibition spaces, titled space I and II, offering more than 4,000 square feet available for rent throughout the year for special events, meetings and other contemporary projects. Also housed within the YL complex is the launch of a new retail concept space and creative agency, Trusst. As some of you know, myself and my company FameGiant have been working with the gallery for the last 3 months on this event. It was good too see everyone come out and support the night. Congratulations to Yves & Ximena!! Here are some pix.

This is not the first time Sub-V has made it on the blog, and it certainly won’t be their last. Home to dope street wear brands, crazy vinyl toys, awesome books, and more colours of spray paint than crayola, Sub-V is your 1 stop shop for everything amazing. They also happen to be the largest graffiti supply shop in North America, how cool is that? Located directly in the center of NDG, Sub-V is all about community and showcasing local and international talent at their many expos as well as bringing you the best in street and toy culture.
I feel very fortunate to have Gavin as my friend, an the fact that he has extended his hand to me in allowing Truth Of A Liar to have the Skate Or Lie event at the boutique just leaves me without words. This event started off as just an idea, and with the help of quite a few has turned into a community block party for my anniversary. I am beyond stoked to be able to share my shirt launch/anniversary with all of you at Sub-V.

So I went down to see my buddy Alex over at Saving Grace yesterday. We have been working on my full arm coverup for a while now and it’s finally starting to look amazing. Alex is really rad guy, not only did he open up the shop just for me on his day off but he does so much work on me for next to nothing its insane. Its pretty cool how this friendship all started off with one “my little pony” tattoo, hahah. Anyways after another 3 hrs on my lower arm and a shit load of sea foam green, my coverup is moving at a very nice speed and just in time cause short sleeve shirts are just around the corner.
I am super stoked to have Saving Grace involved in the “Skate Or Lie” event on June 4th. They will be open that night doing Mike Giant skate flash for $50 bux to anyone who goes to the event. Super rad, and with 20 pieces of flash to choose from, your chances of getting an awesome tattoo are very good!

Montreal is home to many amazing places, and sometimes a lot of them remain secret, almost underground. One of those places is the NDG Skatepark. Skater owned and operated, this park is a gem in the city. Featuring a devastatingly amazing bowl, small street section and well equipped shop, this skatepark is home for all. With a mission to provide Montrealers an exclusive and chill spot to skate by day, their main goal is to provide you guys with a well maintained, laid back place to skate after hours with your homies.
Im happy to have the NDG Skatepark as one of the sponsors to the “Skate Or Lie” event on June 4th. You can expect boards and even some membership giveaways to come from these guys. Check out the park 7 days a week at 2105 Old Orchard in NDG.

Located in beautiful old Montreal, the Yves Laroche Gallery is a must visit for any tourist, and a regular visit for Montreal residents. With more than 30 years of experience under his belt, owner and publisher Yves Laroche decided to embark on a ride through graffiti art, tattoo art, comic books and pop surrealism showcasing both emerging and established artists. Now Old Montreal is not the first place I’d go to see contemporary art but I think my views are changing. When I was down their last week at the gallery, I definitely liked what I saw. All the amazing elements I mentioned above, in a manner that is somehow very refreshing. And now with a new decade comes a new location. The gallery which is currently located on 4 St Paul E. is switching spaces. As of May 1st the gallery will be located at 6355 St Laurent Blvd (corner Beaubien).
I am thrilled to announce that my company Fame Giant will be working with them in the near future on some amazing stuff. Here are a few pix from my visit last week. Truly beautiful works of art.

When it comes to making purchases, most of mine are done online, naked in the comfort of my home hahah. Seriously though, I haven’t bought anything in a store in almost a year. I still hit up shops and look around, but I prefer the online aspect of shopping. I do make 1 exception to the rule. Sub-V in Montreal is in my opinion a boutique everyone needs to check out. Carrying brands like NIKE, Rebel 8, Freshjive, Vans, Obey, Crooks & Castles and many many more, these guys really have their shit together. Run by Gavin (an amazing artist) the boutique is 1 part street wear, 1 part graffiti supply, and 1 part vinyl toys. If you did your math correctly thats 3 parts awesome. They do art expos regularly as well. If you live in Montreal check them out at 5666 Sherbrooke St W in NDG, or hit up their blog to see whats new in shop.
