On Saturday, my Mishka crew pulled the covers off its latest retail location in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward. With a unique aesthetic that sees few parallels, the brand has developed a strong following around the world leading to not only this Tokyo location but also a recent opening in Los Angeles as well. I wish I could have gone to Japan for that opening, oh man but it would cost more yen than I have hahaha. Anyways, in addition to Saturday’s events, the New York-based brand also hosted a big party the night before at MICROCOSMOS which included a number of notable DJs. Here are a few pix of the Japan store. Looks sick! Dig that Frakenberry toy in the last pic.

Darth Vader Disco Ball

This über-kitsch disco ball is fashioned after our favorite Star Wars villain, Darth Vader. You’ll be rockin’ and dancin’ underneath this floating effigy of Anakin Skywalker. I haven’t been able to find out much information about it, but it certainly looks cool. I wonder what it looks like when lasers and lights are reflecting off its mirror surface. Kind of strange calling Darth Vader a villain, when the whole series is about him. Ah well, makes me want to watch Revenge of the Sith again, preceded by the original trilogy.

This has officially turned into the Fame Giant theme song. DJ Khaled dropped his latest album Victory today, and the third single “All I Do Is Win” now has a video. This song is an anthemic hood banger and I won’t be the least bit surprised to start hearing it on the block once the weather warms up. Oh yeah, did I mention that Ricky Ross is reppin’ Mishka HARD in the video. Yeah. The guy who’s raps are so ridiculous that you can’t help but want to hear more. The oversized mop 59Fifty never looked so gangster as it does in this video. I guess there is something to be said about the visual impact of stuntin’ with a Rolls Royce and a bad bitch by your side. RAAAWWWWWWSSSSS!!!!

Anyone know what the pink sippy sip stuff they are drinking is at 2:19? I need some of that in my life.

Last week I came home to a whack load of Spring 10 bags from Timbuk2. The Hemlock – A big ‘ol pack with stylish and functional roll-top and Swing Around laptop access. Now I love bags, and I seem to have one for every occasion since I started blogging haha. I really dig Timbuk2. Good strong quality bags. Law & Order – Jugglao Edition

OK what. How the hell did I miss this? Juggalos on Law & Order. Seriously. Whoop whooooppppp.

This episode was based upon a horrorcore/juggalo related murder that happened last fall commited by Richard “Syko Sam” McCroskey. In this episode they portrayed juggalos and horrorcore fans in a VERY negative light. You can watch the whole episode right here. I hear from the interweb that they arent very happy about being portrayed as killers, but really. Do I need to remind everyone of lthe lyrics to these songs and message being told? They all arent the friendly Faygo drinkers they appear to be.

Dov Charney went all the way around the world and back to find us the nicest ass. While the official winner hasn’t been chosen yet, the voting has stopped. The not official word is that the neon-undies clad winner is “Boom Boom” from Santo Domingo, who will presumably get her buns featured in an upcoming American Apparel ad. You can view the top 10 here. It’s nice to see a couple of amazing canadian asses in the final 10. I would seriously let anyone of those girls fart in my open mouth an ask for seconds. Just sayin…

When I used to skate in the 80s my favourite skater was always Nataus Kaupus. His skating style to the way he talked, I tried tirelessly to be more an more like him in my style. I recently saw this profile on him online and it just made me really wanna write up this post an ad some old skate footage.

Born in 1969 in Santa Monica, California, Natas Kaupas was at the heart of Skateboarding’s birthplace. Often spending time in the area of Santa Monica known as Dogtown, Kaupas would use his personal and professional experiences among legendary skateboarders to become one of the pioneers of the skateboarding industry and create a legacy for himself. In 1984, fifteen year old Kaupas was discovered by the owner and manger of Santa Monica Airlines, Skip Engblom, who was a major skateboarding sponsor at the time. His relationship with Engblom sky-rocketed him to fame, landing him a cover on the widely respected industry publication, Thrasher Magazine.

Less than a year later, the sixteen-year-old was a bona fide professional. Beginning with his work on flatground street ollies, Kaupaus revolutionized street skateboarding with his creation of the innovative Ollie Wall ride which he later incorporated, with the assistance of colleague and contemporary, Mark Gonzales, into handrail skating, effectively synthesizing vertical skating aspects into popular street skating methods. Although Kaupaus was the first to attempt a boardslide on the handrails, he was unsuccessful; however, it was his legendary move, a 720 degree revolution on the peak of a fire hydrant which launched him into the history books as the Natas Spin’s difficulty has proved the stunt to be virtually impossible to recreate, even among the most professional skaters in the industry. Not only was Kaupaus the first professional skateboarder to release a model shoe with the famed Etnies in 1990; less than a year later he founded his own company, 101 Skateboards.

Although 101 is no longer in business, in 2004 Kaupaus came out of semi-retirement to found his new organization, Designarium. Today, Kaupaus makes occasional appearances at professional events such as the X Games, but his daily business is typically centered around his role as creative director at the extremely popular name brand surf-wear company, Quiksilver. Without a doubt, Kaupaus not only pioneered the sport of Skateboarding, he also continues to demonstrate his creativity and innovation as an artist with his designs, geared primarily toward active and athletic skaters who want to follow in the wake of his legacy. Even still, skateboarders internationally have big shoes to fill when it comes to the level of intricate skill and grace demonstrated consistently by this legend throughout his revolutionary career.

The Bachelor Re-Up

So last Monday night saw the series finale of ABC’s The Bachelor, featuring airline pilot and part-time stomach clothes-washer Jake Pavelka choosing between a gaggle of sharp-toothed, man-thirsty ladies, thrown into a house with a trunk full of sateen clearance prom gowns, and told to do whatever it takes to win this man’s love. I think Jake Pavelka was voted the hottest bachelor to date, I don’t know why. He’s a borderline moron who was looking for a woman to both wrastle and impregnate, but point being. A few weeks ago, Jake was down to 4 possible brides: Gia, “Like Gina Gershon, Minus The N-Gershon”; Aly, a blond girl from Rivendell; Tenley, a premature baby who enjoyed dancing; and Vienna, who grew up on freeze-dried alligator meat which she then stuffed into her chest skin to make breasts. Aly eventually left for “work purposes” (really, where does she work, The Drama Barn? Zingggggg, I’m here all week.), and it was announced today that she is going to be America’s next Bachelorette. Jake then denied Gia a rose, surprising til we found out later the bitch already has a boyfriend. Jake was now left with 2 ladies. Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” and the Vienna Sausage Factory. Each lady was introduced to Jake’s family. The verdict was clear: Tenley was a girl with a 3-chambered heart of gold, while Vienna, the “bad” girl, did not jive with the ladies of her fam. By this point it was pretty clear. The lady that Jake would to fuck for the rest of his life (or at least the next 12 months) is Vienna. And, so, Vienna is the “lady” who he chose.

Some thoughts:
1. Poor Tenley. The girl is as fragile as a woman with glass bones, both physically and emotionally. She was already DUMPED by her first husband, and now this? On national television? It ain’t right. He spends the entire season telling her he loves her and that he’s falling in love with her, and then cries on a mountain in St. Lucia that things just didn’t feel right. YOU DICKLESS HUMAN BEING. I wasn’t Tenley’s biggest fan, but shit, give the girl a break. She’s only 5 months old hahah.
2. Good Luck with Vienna. Place your bets on how long this engagement lasts. Shorter or Longer than the amount of time it takes for a fly to become a Great Grandmother? This is a tough one.
3. Thankfully, Jake Is Coming Back. On Dancing with the Stars! Bachelor Plot Twist: He falls in love with fellow dancer Kate Gosselin. Can you imagine?
4. This Show Is A Sham. So why do I keep watching it?
5. I need a life realllllllll bad.

Side Note* Someone please vote for me as the next Bachelor, Im going to fuck this show up lol.

Ok so Im no cook, but Jesse is and this is something we need to make ASAP. Im sure this will ultimately cause a heart attack, but the Bacon Cheese Turtle is too good to pass up. Take a nice cheeseburger, lay on a slice of your favourite cheese, make a bacon weave and wrap the burger in it, shove some anatomically incorrect hot dogs in it and throw it on a grill or in the oven. Bamm instant death.

I love surfing. I can remember my fascination starting when I was a young kid watching it on ABC World of Sports with my Dad. I am by no means a “good” surfer but I do know how to surf. This summer I will be surfing a lot more obviously thanks to RipCurl. This video is just so damn amazing. The colour of the ocean, the flow of the riders. Makes me wanna drop in on a wave right now.
